At First Chiropractic of Burbank, we provide a distinctive, gentle approach to chiropractic care called the Koren Specific Technique (KST). Unlike traditional methods, KST involves no twisting, popping, or cracking of joints. Instead, you receive precise, gentle corrections to your spine and structural system right here in Burbank, CA. Most adjustments are comfortably performed while you are standing or sitting.
Request an AppointmentCorrecting Subluxations in Burbank, CA
We focus on alleviating a serious type of nerve stress caused by misalignments or distortions in your spine and body structure known as subluxations. These subluxations can lead to physical discomfort, mental and emotional challenges, and symptoms like pain, fatigue, weakness, and various health issues.
Subluxations may arise from physical injuries, chemical imbalances, or emotional stress and trauma. Our goal at First Chiropractic of Burbank is to gently remove this stress from your body and mind so you can experience improved health and well-being.
What Does KST Do?
KST is a gentle yet highly effective technique. Many patients notice noticeable improvements from their very first visit. Because KST corrections tend to hold longer, deeper physical and emotional subluxations can be addressed over time.
This technique allows us to swiftly and gently scan and correct subluxations anywhere in your body — from cranial bones and TMJ to your entire spine, sacrum, coccyx, ribs, hips, shoulders, knees, hands, feet, and more.
Retracing
One unique aspect of KST is retracing, where old physical and emotional stresses may resurface as your body releases them during treatment. This is a vital part of healing, often involving the expression of long-held stresses.
Because your body has many layers, each session targets what your body reveals at that time. Sometimes older injuries or symptoms reappear temporarily as part of this process. Occasionally, patients experience mild cleansing reactions like diarrhea, fever, or rashes, but these are typically short-lived. Others notice changes in their dreams, reflecting emotional releases.
At times, a particularly weak or distorted area may require re-correction as it may not hold the adjustment initially.
How We Practice Koren Specific Technique
The KST procedure follows three key steps, known as the 3 Cs:
- Challenge
- Check
- Correct
First, “challenge” involves gently moving a body part to scan for subluxations.
Next, “check” detects whether the body part is misaligned. If so, a subtle neurological response called the occipital drop indicates the presence of subluxation.
Finally, “correct” gently realigns the affected area, often using a soothing adjusting instrument that many children find ticklish and infants respond to with smiles.
KST’s versatility allows us to assess and adjust patients in different positions — standing, sitting, lying down, or even in postures related to injury — ensuring precise correction even in complex cases like car accident injuries.
A special feature of KST is its ability to assess disc conditions, offering relief to patients with longstanding chronic issues.
How Should I Feel After a KST Adjustment?
Everyone responds differently, but many report feelings of relaxation, lightness, and improved breathing as nerve and structural stresses ease. Some notice improved vision clarity and peripheral sight, signs of enhanced blood flow to the brain. Others might feel mildly fatigued, like after exercise, though this is temporary.
We encourage you to observe your dreams and any physical changes over the days following your adjustment and share your experiences with us.
Will I Get Better Right Away?
Healing is a journey we take together. While some notice immediate improvements, chronic conditions may require multiple visits for lasting results.
